I decided to tackle this project after seeing it on http://www.theredthreadblog.com/

The steps are simple: you position the rope, one layer at a time, into the bowl shape using coloured embroidery floss to hold it all together. Each layer is stitched into the lower one, wrapping the thread around the rope on the top layer.

As a first attempt, there are a few things I would improve on if I were to make another bowl. However, I just love the idea of taking rope and thread and turning it into a vessel.

The Golden Bowl

Standard

Ok, confession time. I love movie adaptations of classic literature. No matter how overwrought the acting, no matter how plodding the pace, I just can’t get enough. I love the costumes, the sets, the old-fashioned manners.┬áSo in honour of the 2000 movie, here is my Golden Bowl.

I took a plain white bowl and a little gold paint, and voila! No drama, but I still like it.

I have been toying with the idea of starting a blog for a while. I love the idea of sharing my creative pursuits with a wider audience and connecting with those with similar interests. So check back here soon to see what I’ve come up with.
